We have a new four legged roommate. His name is Rocky, a three month old (starting tomorrow), chocolate labrador retriever mix. We rescued him from our local shelter before Christmas. He's been quite a handful and has happily given us a work out on a daily basis. We easily meet our FitBit goals/steps for the day. It's been great. And not to mention, the endless puppy kisses!
But I'm not gonna lie, it hasn't been all paradise. He can be thorn on my side. And if you've ever owned a lab, you would know by nature they are goofy and unpredictable at times. And it's what makes these dogs so damn endearing. I can never be upset with him! He's too freakin' cute.
Every day has progressively been easier now that he's starting to get his routine down. He even knows his way through the apartment building and knows exactly the door to our unit when he's off-leash. He even knows to get up between 3AM-4AM to go potty. I'm always the one to wake him up around this time and carry him like a baby from his crate. Believe me, the incentive for me to wake up butt-ass early is because I don't enjoy cleaning poop or pee in his crate at 7am. We've been there before and it sucks. Crate training for the most part has been smooth. Accidents will happen here and there, but that's expected for a 12 week old pup. He's learning pretty quickly.
Ah, the joys and growing pains of a new pup. I really do look forward to our future adventures together. He's gonna make a mighty fine running partner and best friend. I already know it. :)
